OCCH Training Academy Offers New Courses for 2010

Training

The OCCH Training Academy is poised once again to offer quality training and to make it affordable to people associated with OCCH partner properties. The Training Academy has been offering low cost or free training sessions since 2006 and will once again be offering many classes this year. Check out the 2010 Training Schedule.

This year several classes will be focused on capacity building for CHDOs and non-profit organizations. We expect to offer courses on housing development, construction management, and fundraising.

As in the past, the Training Academy has also joined with the Columbus Apartment Association (CAA) and the Midwest Affordable Housing Management Association (MAHMA) to offer discounts to our partners.  People associated with an OCCH-syndicated property can attend any CAA training class for $50.00 and can attend MAHMA trainings at discounted rates as well. To obtain the discount, partners must register through OCCH at least 5 business days before the training. Contact Lynn Logan or Melanie Shapiro to register for classes.

OCCH will also offer low-cost classes on various property management topics this year such as Marketing, Fair Housing, Dealing with Bed Bugs, and Landlord-Tenant law. Classes are being added throughout the year on these topics so look for updates to the Training Academy Calendar, posted at www.occh.org.

The Training Academy can also bring training to you on the topics of marketing, fair housing, and tax credit compliance. We can bring these classes to your location to facilitate training a group of managers.  For more information, contact Melanie Shapiro at 614-224-8446.
