OCCH Partners Celebrate Grand Openings!

OCCH congratulates the following partners who celebrated Grand Openings recently.

Southpoint Apartments (Columbus, Franklin County)

Southpoint Apartments

April 30, 2009---Southpoint Apartments is a permanent supportive rental community for individuals disabled by mental illness, substance addiction or histories of homelessness. The project serves both individuals and families by offering 40 studio units and 40 townhomes. Southpoint Apartments  provides permanent housing that offers links to social, health and employment services for residents.  Developed and managed by Community Housing Network, Inc., Southpoint offers residents a stable living environment and the opportunity to receive treatment, find work, maintain recovery and give back to the community. Southpoint Place is a Rebuilding Lives project supported by the Rebuilding Lives Funder Collaborative and the Community Shelter Board.

Clinton Commons II (Wilmington, Clinton County)

Clinton Commons

May 21, 2009---Clinton Commons II is a 40-unit senior project developed and managed by The Clinton County Community Action Program and constructed by L.W. Associates, Inc. Clinton Commons is comprised of 2-bedroom units and project amenities include a large community building which contains exercise space, computer labs, and a community library/reading room. Unique to the project is a small nature preserve created on site which includes bird feeder stations, wildflower gardens and benches.

Canton Elderly (Wilson Pointe) (Canton, Stark County)


Canton Elderly

June 5, 2009---Canton Elderly is a multi-family senior project consisting of 40 units in a single three-story building located on McKinley Avenue in NW Canton, Ohio. The NRP Group and ABCD, Inc, developed the project which features energy efficiency technology, new appliances, and many universal design features. The unit mix includes 6 one bedroom units and 34 two-bedroom units.

Harkavy Hall (Cincinnati, Hamilton County)

June 11, 2009--- On June 11, 2009, the development team for Harkavy Hall celebrated the grand opening of this historic rehabilitation property located in Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati, Ohio. Originally built in the 1880’s as the Republic Hotel, Harkavy Hall provides housing with services to 30 individuals who are homeless and have histories of severe and persistent emotional and / or mental disabilities. Project amenities include washers and dryers, a community space with a lunch area, a television lounge, and free resident telephone. Each unit is furnished with a bed, dresser, table, and chair.

Owned and operated by Tender Mercies, Inc. for nearly 20 years, Harkavy Hall was last rehabilitated in 1988. Frank Harkavy, former president of the Board of Directors, was represented at the grand opening by three generations of his family.  The building is dedicated to his spirit of compassion and commitment to those in need.

Highland Place Apartments (Conneaut, Ashtabula County)

Highland Place

July 10, 2009---Highland Place, developed and managed by Millennia Housing Management, is a 120-unit rehabilitation project located in Conneaut, Ohio in Ashtabula County. Highland Place is comprised of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom units serving low-income family households. Project amenities include an on-site management staff, picnic areas, a basketball court, a separate community space with a kitchen as well as a separate meeting room that can host various resident services, and 24-hr laundry facilities. Sunshine of Warren-Trumble Area, Inc. also partnered in this project.
